What Are The Expectations?
Well, we really just want our folks to have a place to gather, find friendship, and have fun!
To encourage that, here is what you can generally expect with some Codes of Conduct at the bottom.
When you become a Member of Wandering Folk Society, you are joining more than just a game.
You are stepping into a vibrant social club built around shared creativity, immersive storytelling, and collaborative worldbuilding.
A Living Community, Online and Off
Membership gives you access to our private, members-only Discord server: a space to talk about all things LARP, life, and especially our flagship game Reckoning, set in the realm of The March. In this space, you can roleplay between events, share lore, ask questions, brainstorm character ideas, or just connect with others who love the same strange and wonderful things you do.
Games Built for and by the Players
Our events are community-driven and designed around player agency. Staff and NPCs help shape the framework and handle the logistical planning, but the direction of the story is driven by your choices, your Culture’s values, and your character’s growth. Whether through politics, combat, crafting, diplomacy, or quiet personal moments, your actions matter and shape the world we build together.
Rich, Interactable Mechanics
The game features systems that support meaningful interaction—rituals, resource gathering, crafting, social intrigue, combat, and more—all built with consent and safety in mind. Our mechanics are designed to be immersive but intuitive, expanding as the community grows.
Events That Feel Like Coming Home
Expect immersive, dayslong experiences with fireside storytelling, spontaneous alliances, moonlit duels, bardic traditions, and unforgettable character moments. Events are held in outdoor venues that encourage connection to nature and a sense of being transported into another world.
A Social Club Rooted in Shared Values
Wandering Folk Society is a nonprofit social club, and that means everything we do is about building community. Members often contribute beyond the game by volunteering, sharing art, helping run events, or supporting others in and out of character. This is a space for collaboration, mutual care, and growth.
Support for Newcomers
Whether you are new to LARP or have years of experience, we are here to help. You will have access to guides, safety policies, mechanics, lore, and a welcoming community ready to answer questions and support your journey into the world of Reckoning and beyond.
A Voice in the Community
As a Member of Wandering Folk Society, you are not just a participant, you are part of a social club. That means you have the opportunity to vote on key decisions, elect leadership, and help shape the direction of the organization. We believe in collective stewardship, and your voice matters in how our events, policies, and shared spaces evolve.
Shared Expectations, Clear Values
Because we are a community-first organization, we rely on a shared set of expectations to help us maintain a space that is safe, inclusive, and creatively fulfilling. By becoming a Member, you agree to uphold the values of respect, consent, inclusion, and personal accountability, both at our events and in all community spaces.
Here is a general overview of the Codes of Conduct we expect of our members…
I. Expectations for All Members
Respect and Inclusion: Treat others with respect, regardless of background, identity, or experience; honor boundaries, consent, and requests for space.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment: Harassment, intimidation, and discrimination are not tolerated.
Kindness and Collaboration: We are a community that helps each other. Assume goodwill, offer support, and recognize that everyone contributes in different ways.
Constructive Engagement: Share feedback and criticism respectfully. Personal attacks, insults, and lewd commentary are not acceptable.
Conduct Beyond Events: We are responsible for upholding a safe and respectful environment everywhere WFS members gather.
II. Expectations for Event Participants
Know the Rules: Attend safety briefings, learn the game mechanics, and review event-specific guidelines.
Respect Immersion and Consent: Engage in roleplay respectfully. Use designated systems to set and respect boundaries. Recognize and manage emotional bleed.
Personal Responsibility: Take care of your physical well-being; hydrate, eat, and rest. Be aware of environmental safety and respect wildlife and fire guidelines.
Possessions: Watch your belongings.
Prioritizing Physical Safety: Engaging in “lightest touch” combat with a focus on theatrics and gameplay over physicality. All weapons inspected; real weapons are not allowed at events.
Responsible Debauchery: We support each person choosing to abstain from intoxicants and so ask those who partake in their vices to do so responsibly and in consideration of themselves and others.
